2020 HAPPY New Year!

Happy New Year! 2020 has come so quick. I am now 50 years old and my children Zana is 20 and Liam 18. Where did those years go? I can always remember my Mum and old people always says "it goes so quick" and always thought it was just a saying. But they were so right. This is my third year with Manaiakalani and I am looking forward to working with teachers this year. I feel I have a much better understanding of the Kaupapa and tools. Some of the changes this year will be to do a lot more co-facilitating, teachers teaching the cyber smart curriculum more and me observing. Also linking the cyber smart curriculum into the other curriculum areas it should be embedded not a stand-alone subject. I feel principals need to be leading this Kaupapa from the top and starting to embed it into school strategic plans, policies and procedures. I intend to have more principal meetings to discuss these and get them to drive the change and model the Manaiakalani kaupapa Learn, Create, Share. I am looking to upskill myself in computational thinking and coding now that it is part of the new digital curriculum. I want to read and try a lot of the new apps and sites that are available and introduce them to my work. I use scratch junior and scratch at a basic level and would like to take it to a higher level in my lessons. It would be good to go to an international conference to present if I am up to that standard. Some of my personal goals are to look after myself, eat healthily, drink lots of water, stress less and enjoy life.
